30 Days of Beauty – day 30

I was trying to think of a big thing for the last post of this series, but the point was to find beauty every day no matter where or how small or big. So, today’s beauty for me was solving a problem. There is a beauty in this – that such as action gives joy and engenders happiness in people around you who know what you faced – big or small.  That’s beauty feedback!

I hope you enjoyed this little writing exercise, that’s all for now…..or is it?

Ok, today I have to dig really, really deep. And it’s hearing a friend’s voice at the other end of the phone when you need it most.  Doesn’t matter what they are saying, just knowing someone is there for you.

Are your friends things of beauty?

30 Days of Beauty – day 28

Freshly vacuumed carpet that noone else has walked on. I can’t quite describe the feeling of walking into your home and seeing the long sweeping vacuum cleaner marks on your carpet. It’s almost even better than freshly fallen snow (although I’d be willing to entertain a debate). It’s a combination of “I’m home!!!” after a long day coupled with “And it’s such a nice place to be!!!!”

What small thing means the mostest to you?

MMMMMM, something smells nice!  I have this sugar body scrub that has all sorts of moisturizing oils in it.  The base is brown sugar and the smells are of a lovely, sweet, fresh flower. It’s like you are walking in the meadow.  I don’t know why I never noticed how beautiful a smell can be before.

What have you not been noticing?

30 Days of Beauty – day 26

Bright, bright colour!!!  Was walking in the mall today and saw an older gentleman walking towards me in a bright yellow shirt and bright blue running shoes 🙂  The combination should not have worked, but it did.  There was a man who wasn’t afraid of standing out.  And he didn’t really, because he was so casual, you didn’t really notice right away.  Sort of like when men started wearing pink.  I like to imagine that his grandchildren picked out the shirt and shoes because they liked the colours.  Or maybe blue was his favourite colour and his wife encouraged him to buy it.  Maybe I’ll pick up some bright red socks for dad….

What brings colour into your life?

30 Days of Beauty – day 25

Having an adult conversation with family you grew up with. You know how there’s a moment when you realise your relationships have matured?  Not grown old or stale, but moved to another level?  I was sitting there, talking to my cousin about life, budgets, insurance, and dreams. A conversation you don’t have if you’re mentally still 12 years old 🙂

How have things that have been in your life for decades changed?

30 Days of Beauty – day 24

Doing what I’ve always done.  I couldn’t find any particular thing beautiful about this day (which is one reason it took me so long to write this post). I went to work, had dinner with family, rode my horse and went home.  Then I thought, I love seeing my family and I can count on my dad to be there for dinner.  And I love riding my horse and nothing was stopping me from going to the barn and giving him a hug. So, that’s beauty.

Do you revel in everyday things?

30 Days of Beauty – day 23

Quiet. Only 10 minutes. And I didn’t realise until later how much that meant to me.  10 minutes by myself with a tea.

Can you recognize beauty when it happens?

30 Days of Beauty – day 22

A flock of birds spread out in an elongated shape rather than all bunched up, flew over the highway as we crawled along and it looked like tears running across the pavement.

Can you find beauty in glimpse in unexpected places?

30 Days of Beauty – day 21

Ok, this one was really, really, really hard.  The biggest challenge was not being able to remember most of this day despite actually getting sleep the previous night…  I’m going to have to go with movement. I took time out to do my yoga exercises that double as my physiotherapy exercises and felt my body stretch and move. That is a joyous feeling all in its own.

Is exercise just a chore?
